During Coeliac Awareness Week (13-20 March 2024), there's a nationwide effort to change perceptions of coeliac disease. Rather than focusing solely on traditional symptoms, the goal is to broaden understanding. The aim is not just to raise awareness but to drive concrete action, particularly in increasing diagnosis rates. Coeliac Australia's survey found that 2 out of every 3 diagnoses were due to symptoms unrelated to gut issues. This suggests that many cases of coeliac disease may go undiagnosed due to symptoms not typically associated with the condition. You can find out more about common symptoms and take the online self assessment here.
